San Antonio Hotel & Spa Guest Comments
Beautiful Facility, low amenities. I stayed in a King Junior Suite for 3 nights. My 6 year old niece was with me for two nights. The hotel is a little out of the way and remote which is peaceful. The suite was pretty and the bedding, bathroom and soaps ect were as great as described on the website. The staff was also great and very helpful. When I explained we wanted to see New Year's fireworks from our balcony they switched our room so that we would be able to see Sea World's fireworks. (Which were wonderful!) The spa was able to arrange last minute manicures (with a mermaid manicure for my neice) and it was a pleasant experience although the polish was chipping by the next day.
The outside areas were nice with a semiworking whirlpool, a heated adult and kid pool, a cold pool, and fire pits to sit around or to roast marshmallows bought from the front desk. I gave a lower rating mainly because of three things - room service, the TV system and the lack of a fridge or mini bar. Room service was only open until 11:00 pm (I called one night at 11:02 and they would not serve us) and no light "all night menu" was available. NOTHING was available after 11:00 pm. Not what I expect from a higher class of hotel. In addition there was no fridge or mini bar in the room to store your own snacks.
The TV was also a letdown. We settled into the plush bed only to find that the guide that showed on the TV was too small to see from the bed. The font was lite and small and I had to actually walk up to it to read it.. No other guide was available. No info even in the hotel room packet. There were about 20 or 30 basic cable channels. There were no pay per view movies or later night kid channels. There were three channels for kids (Disney, Nick and Cartoon Network) that all switched to teen fare in the afternoon. Nothing appropriate for a 6 year old. I called to see if we could rent a DVD player one night to play a kid movie but was told that service was not offered. So we ended up setting up my laptop for her. It worked but I really expected better for the price.
Internet was available - for a fee. It was disappointing as much less expensive hotel chains include internet, fridge, micro and breakfast in the price. And have pay per view movies to lull little kids to sleep after an exciting day (or to just give mom and dad a break!) So - pretty facilities and nice staff but be sure you have ready to eat snacks in the room for late night munching, use your phone for internet access, make sure you can entertain yourself, and don't expect more than your average TV channels. Or less. - Tripadvisor Guest, London, Jan 8, 2010 - Management response from GM_SATHC, General Manager (Management representative)

Thank you for taking the time to write an on-line review of our hotel. Your comments are very important to us and I am passing them along to my management team for follow-up. I appreciate you taking the time to write in detail the events of your stay. We are in the process of renovating the hotel by spending over 5 million dollars.

Great San Antonio hotel We decided to spend Christmas in San Antonio, and definitely needed a hotel that all areas would be open. Restaurant and bar was open as was the courtyard and swimming pool (although too cool to swim) They had fires in the courtyard every evening with full bar service and snacks available. San Antonio is probably the most beautiful city in Texas, with the river walk, Alamo, etc. But the surrounding area, in particular the "Hill Country" near San Antonio is well worth the drive to see. - Expedia Guest, Winnipeg, Canada, January 5, 2010
SAN ANTONIO The hotel was great. It is in a very convenient spot. I would definately recommend this hotel to all my friends and family. - Expedia Guest, san diego, CA, December 25, 2009
Wonderful Spa! Today, my husband surprised me with a day spa at the Hill Country Spa and it was wonderful, we are locals so we didn't stay in a room but the hotel was beautiful and the staff was so polite. The ladies at the spa (Terry, Kristen and Bianca where so polite, professional and just plain great. I would recommend this spa to anyone. After, my spa treatments, my husband treated me to lunch at the Hilton restaurant which was delicious, we are going to go back again. - Tripadvisor Guest, San Antonio, Texas, Dec 15, 2009
Nice We were quite impressed with this hotel and our room. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was huge. We loved the shower with two shower heads until it dripped all night. We also liked the jetted tub although it was very difficult to turn the jets on and off. We also had an issue the morning we left. The water was turned off throughout the hotel with no warning for repairs. This is not good when you are trying to get ready to leave. The grounds of the hotel and the hotel itself are quite lovely. The shuttle service to Sea World is very nice and the drivers are very friendly and helpful. We hope to return to this hotel sometime to try it out again. - Expedia Guest - Harker Heights, TX, October 23, 2009
Great location and good customer service.
The hotel has a great location for Sea World. They have great customer service. This is the second time we stayed there and we were a little disappointed this time with the cleanliness of our restroom. However, when I called the reception desk they immediately sent someone to take care of it. - Expedia Guest from Houston, TX, October 20, 2009
Nice hotel, across from Sea World This is a very nice hotel right across the street from Sea World. Can't get any closer to Sea World. They do have a shuttle but parking is free with a season pass so we opted to drive our own car and take breaks back at the hotel during the day. The breakfast buffet is good - came with room so it was even nicer. Will stay here again on our next trip. - Tripadvisor Guest, Texas, Oct 8, 2009
Great Hotel! We stayed at this hotel over Labor Day weekend. We paid $69 dollars on Priceline.com and srill got the same service a regular guest would receive. We are Hilton Silver VIP Members and excited that we got the Hilton. We stayed in room 204 that has 2 Queen Beds. It was clean and comfortable plus the beds are fantastic. We ate at the hotel for dinner and the service was slow but the food was good and a great value for the price espicially for a Hilton. We used the pool and it was really nice. The Juice Bar was open and that wa a plus (had a great Pina Colada). I would not pay full price for the hotel but our value was great. We would definetly stay at this hotel again at this price. - Tripadvisor Guest, Austin, Texas, Sep 10, 2009
Beautiful Landscape We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend (2009)...with 3 adults and 2 kids...we had a garden room view, which was great for us...easy access to the pool, and smore pits. We did go back and forth to Sea World and the shuttle was great. The room was comfortable and had great amenities. The staff was great and very helpful and sweet to our kids. The grounds were just beautiful...I loved all the blooms and trees....very "picture perfect." The pools were great and fun to go back and forth too..but the adult pool had kids in it all the time...not a big deal for us though...we got to see fireworks poolside...which was the best...they were big and not too loud. We roasted marshmallows and met lots of nice families...and.they had movies everynight on a big wall...the only things I would complain about would be the overpriced bar drinks...and breakfast buffet ( for dinner i would go to bill millers' bbq...its across from rudys...i love rudys but the wait was way too long...and this little bbq place was quite good...great fries and ranch!!!)..but that you find everywhere.....overall...I would stay here again and definitely recommend it! - Travelocity Guest from Austin, TX, Jul 2009
Batting a 1000!! From the immediate upgrade in room, to the amazing front desk. (Thanks for the Smores!) The rooms were clean and beautiful! This is our family's second time to stay here. The staff was the best I have ever worked with. This was a perfect family hotel. The movies, smores, heated pools were great! Location to Sea World can't be beat. Timely shuttle rides were amazing. We will come back! - Travelocity Guest from Fort Worth, TX, Mar 2009
